Harry Potter Camp

This past weekend we had a residential camp with girls from Sparks through Rangers. The theme of Harry Potter was picked and voted for by the girls. The leaders went from there and had more fun planning then we liked to admit (we have some Harry Potter fanatics for leaders). We played Quidditch and had activities based on all the classes from Hogwarts; we also had a birthday at our camp she turned 8 but didn't want to miss camp for her birthday so we did a cake decorating activity then all the girls sang to her at dinner and we had cake for dessert!

We used a crest from E-Patches for camp; the link is below

Below is the link for the camp booklet which has the schedule, menu and all the breakdown of the activities

Harry Potter Camp Booklet

I have done something different with this booklet at the suggestion of someone who was reading the site; the last page has links to program to the best of my ability.

As usual please I would really LOVE to hear if you use the camp plans, what you changed, what you liked and how you made it your own!

Trolls Adventure Camp

The girls picked this theme and it was a tent June camp with Sparks and Brownies. The leaders were unsure at first at how we could pull this off but it ended up being so much fun. There was a bit of program work covered in this camp;

  • Brownies - Key to I Can (Sewing Magic) & Happy Hiking
This camp was different in the way we handled "free time". We had an ongoing project of Troll houses that we started on the Friday night and girls continued through Saturday when they were on free time or done doing their patrol chores. The girls loved it; we put on music in the work area (we had the trolls soundtrack) and the girls sat in groups with their friends working on the homes. We left bins of craft supplies out that they had access to. If a glue gun was needed that was the only time a leader stepped in to help with younger ones.

Once again we used a crest from E-PATCHES you can find the link below.

Attached you will find all the instructions for crafts, games and even a sample menu. Please feel to leave comments with how YOU did things!

Below is also a few pictures of the completed trolls houses. We placed these as well as all their other crafts from the weekend in empty cookie cases that we had collected and brought with us so they would stay safe going home.

Farm Camp

This camp was a residential multi-level winter camp; girls were ranged from Sparks to Rangers and everyone had fun! We tried to adapt activities that might be too easy or too hard for girls depending on age and in the end we decided pairing up younger girls with older girls worked best.

This camp had some links to programming;
  • Brownies - Be A Chef & Key to Camping (part)
  • Guides - Tasty Treats & Farming
  • Pathfinders - Knots, Knives & Outdoor Lore (part)
We used a crest from E-PATCHES once again you can find the link below.

Alice in Wonderland Camp

This camp was a Spark and Brownie camp but could easily be modified for all levels.

This camp really was more of a just for fun camp (and that's ok!) they still learnt basic outdoor cooking skills and even some map reading skills. The scavenger hunt in this booklet is specific for the campground here in Quebec but can easily be modified.

For this camp the leaders all got dressed up as a character from the movie and played into our roles throughout the day on Saturday. It was just as much fun for the girls as it was leaders!

We used a crest from E-PATCHES which you can find the link for below.

MasterChef Camp

This camp was a multi-level camp; we had girls from Sparks right through Rangers and it was a massive success. The programming included portions or all of the following badges;
  • Sparks - Being Healthy (whole badge)
  • Brownies - Food Power (whole badge) & Go For it! (part of badge)
  • Guides - Healthy Eating (part)
  • Pathfinders - We Are What We Eat (part) & Active Living (part)
In order to separate the patrols we ended up ordering aprons from ORIENTAL TRADING (find link below) in place of crests. However, there is now a crest you can use on E-PATCHES as well (find link below)

The activities ranged from kitchen safety, preparing food, learning where our food comes from and leading a healthy lifestyle.

Attached you will find all the instructions for crafts, games and even a sample menu. Please feel to leave comments with how YOU did things!

Treasure Island Camp

This camp was so much fun!

The camp was held with Sparks and Brownies at an outdoor camp in the spring. We split the girls into ships and bought coloured bandannas from Oriental Trading that they wore all weekend so we knew which Patrol they belonged to.

We did crafts and games related to Pirates, Mermaids and searching for treasure. We used the following crest from E-PATCHES.

Attached you will find all the plans with craft instructions, games and even a sample menu. Please enjoy and leave comments of how YOU did things!
